Social media management pricing in India is almost always a monthly fee, and it depends on three things: how many platforms you want, how much content goes out each month, and how much of it is video. The fee changes again if the agency also answers comments, runs paid ads or builds detailed reports. We have not found a trustworthy market-average price, so we will not invent one. This guide shows how agencies build their fee, so you can compare quotes properly.

If you want the Instagram-only version for Delhi NCR, read our Instagram page management cost guide. This post covers pricing models for social media in general. Our own social media management service is priced the way described below, and our starting price is at the end of this post.

How do agencies price social media management?

There are three common models. Each one is honest if the agency explains what you get, and each can hide problems if it does not.

ModelHow it worksGood forWatch out for
Per month, by posts and platformsA fixed fee for, say, a set number of posts a month on a set number of platformsSmall businesses that want a predictable billPosts counted as "posts" when some are only reshared images
By deliverablesA list: so many designed posts, carousels, Reels, stories, replies and one reportClear scope and easy to compare between agenciesA long list with no mention of quality or who writes the captions
By hoursYou pay for time, often a retainer of fixed hoursBrands with changing needs or lots of one-off requestsNo cap on hours, or hours you cannot see

Our view: the second model is the most useful for a buyer, because you can see what you are paying for. The first is easier to buy. The third suits teams that know exactly what they need and can manage the work.

What changes the price of social media management?

Five things move the fee more than anything else. When two quotes differ a lot, the difference is usually in one of these.

Cost driverWhy it changes the feeQuestion to ask
Number of platformsEach platform needs its own formats, sizes and toneWhich platforms are included, and are they worth your time?
VideoReels and short video take planning, shooting or editingWho shoots it? Is editing included?
Community repliesSomeone must read and answer comments and messages, often across the weekWho replies, and how fast?
Paid adsAds need a separate setup, testing and reportingIs ad management included, or is it a separate fee? Is ad spend paid to the platform separately?
Reporting and strategyA thoughtful monthly review takes senior timeWhat does the report show, and do you get a call about it?

A quick example, not a quote. Two agencies quote for a clinic. One offers twelve static posts on Instagram and Facebook. The other offers eight posts, four Reels, comment replies and a monthly report. The second costs more because it includes more work, not because it is a worse deal. Compare the scope line by line before you compare the totals.

What does a package include, and what is usually extra?

Most packages cover the planning and posting. Anything that needs shooting, paid spend or heavy interaction tends to sit outside. Ask for this list in writing.

ItemOften includedOften extra
Content calendar and strategyYes
Designed posts and carouselsYes, up to a stated numberExtra posts beyond the number
Captions in your brand voiceYes
Scheduling and publishingYes
Reels and short videoSometimes edited from your footageShooting, scripts, motion graphics
Community repliesBasic comment repliesDirect message handling, long hours, review replies
Paid ads managementManagement fee plus ad spend
Monthly reportYesStrategy calls or deeper analysis
Account creation or rebrandOften a one-time fee

If a package does not say who owns the content and the accounts, ask. That leads to the red flags.

What are the red flags in a social media quote?

A few signs should make you slow down.

  • Follower guarantees. No one can promise a follower count. Buying followers, views or reviews can also damage your account and your credibility. We never do it.
  • No access to your accounts. The accounts must stay in your name, with you as the owner or admin. If an agency creates them under its own login and will not hand them over, you do not own your audience.
  • A package with no scope. "Full social media management" with no numbers or list is a promise you cannot check.
  • No report. If you never see what was posted and what happened, you cannot judge the work.
  • Very low prices with big promises. Work costs time. A fee that cannot pay for a person's time will be paid for with shortcuts.
  • Lock-in with no way out. A long minimum contract with no review point means you carry the risk. A short first period is a fairer way to start.

What should you ask before you sign?

Take this list to every call. It also makes quotes easier to compare.

  1. Which platforms, and how many posts, carousels, Reels and stories each month?
  2. Who writes the captions, and who designs the posts?
  3. Will I see and approve content before it goes live?
  4. Who owns the accounts and the content, and is that in writing?
  5. Who replies to comments and messages, and how fast?
  6. Is ad management included? Who pays the ad platform?
  7. What does the monthly report contain?
  8. What is the minimum period, and how do I leave?

How do we price it at Astrafolio?

We build the fee from scope, the same drivers in the table above. Your accounts and page access stay in your name. You see the calendar before posts go live. You get a plain-English report every month. We never buy followers, views or reviews.

Our starting price in India is INR 9,000 a month for one brand on two platforms, and it is our own published price, not a market average. It moves with the number of brands, platforms and posts, and bigger multi-brand work is quoted on a call. Flexible on scope, firm on price: once we agree the number, it does not change.

If you are still deciding what to post and where, our guide to a social media marketing plan for local businesses is a good place to start before you ask for quotes.

Frequently asked questions

Is a monthly retainer the only way to pay for social media management?

No, but it is the most common one, because consistent posting is the point. Some agencies sell one-off audits, set-ups or campaign bursts. For steady posting and replies, a monthly fee with a clear scope is usually the simplest arrangement.

Does the ad budget count as part of the management fee?

No. The management fee pays the agency for its work. Ad spend is paid to the platform, such as Meta, and sits on top. Ask any agency to show both numbers separately on the quote.

Why do two agencies quote very different prices for the same work?

Usually the scope is not the same. One may include video, replies and reporting, and the other only static posts. It can also be the seniority of the people doing the work. Line the quotes up in a table with the same rows before you decide.

Should I pay an agency or hire someone in-house?

An in-house person gives you someone close to the business, but you carry hiring, tools and gaps when they are away. An agency gives you a team with different skills for one fee. If you need a few posts a week and have no one to spare, an agency is usually simpler. If social media is a big part of your business, an in-house hire may make sense later.

How long before I see results from social media?

It depends on the platform, the industry and where you start, so we do not give a fixed timeline. In the first months we judge progress by steady posting, engagement and enquiries, not by follower counts. We would be wary of any agency that promises specific numbers.
